I realize this post is incredibly late, but I took so many pictures and videos during Coachella that I was unable to share AT Coachella due to the spotty service. (What’s that, you get TONS of people all in one place to listen to amazing music and yet everyone’s trying to use their phones and thus overloading the cell networks?! YUP.) And then one day turned into the next and the next. And suddenly we're into May. MAY?!Read More

Black and white film photography is my first and truest artistic love. I have been getting back into shooting more film this year, and I am loving it. I decided to take my Pentax K1000 with me to my friend's wedding and for some San Francisco traipsing last month.
I didn't take too many pictures, but I am so glad I brought the camera with me to get what I did. I wanted to capture Ruth's excitement in the hours before the wedding as we all got ready in the hotel. I wanted to document some of the preparation itself. Here's some of what I got:
There's something different about capturing a moment with film. Maybe it has to do with not knowing right away if you succeeded or not. You may even forget exactly what shots you took and thus surprise even yourself when you flip through the shots after getting the roll developed. As I continue shooting film, I hope to both become more certain of the shots I do get and also enjoy a few surprises thrown in along the way. What can I say... I want it all. Always have. Always will. :)
Last week I headed to California to see one of my dear friends from college, Ruth, get married. I got in late on Thursday night, and we hit the ground running with wedding preparation and festivities Friday. Manicure and pedicure time for the bridal party is essential, right?
While I was a bridesmaid this go 'round, you know I couldn't help but snap some pictures along the way. And I'll just say that my dress having pockets that I could stash my phone in was helpful. (Pockets on dresses = AMAZING)
I also brought my film camera with me, but no DSLR. So I only have the pictures from my iPhone to share for now, but more to come soon, I hope! It was great being asked if I got any good shots when I was using my film camera though. "We'll just have to wait a bit to see..." Take THAT, immediate gratification, a.k.a. all the chimping. :)
Anyhow, here are some shots from Ruth's special day.
I also had the good fortune of spending some time with great friends who live in the Bay Area now. Bryan and Fru took us to Pacifica and Moir Point, which was breathtaking. I wanted to share a few of those pictures as well. Hope you enjoy!
