NovaSalud: Working to Break the Stigma of HIV

Noe Todorovich

On August 16, 2014, NovaSalud, Inc. hosted a fashion show at the Mansion on O Street featuring designs by the Peruvian fashion designer Juan Jose Saenz Ferreyros. The theme of the event was to "Break the Stigma of HIV," and each of the models are either living with or otherwise affected by HIV/AIDS.

I had the pleasure and honor of working with NovaSalud to document the event and talk with the models about how HIV has affected them and what they want people to know about HIV and NovaSalud. Working on this project enlightened and educated me, and I hope it will do the same for those who see it.

About NovaSalud, Inc

Frame by Frame | Filming Kitchenability

Gina Todorovich

When I decided it was time to upgrade from my Canon 30D (I know, right? 30D?!), one of the key features I wanted of a new camera was high quality video recording. My dear friends Lilly and Jason hired wedding videographers who solely used DSLRs and the end product? Phenomenal. I love the look and feel of videos shot this way—the depth of field, the framing. This got me thinking more about investing in a camera for more than just still photography.

A few months ago, I shared a video I shot behind-the-scenes with Kitchenability during one of her cookbook photo shoots with Patrick Onofre. Shortly thereafter, Nisa (the woman behind Kitchenability) asked me to join her team as her videographer. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be part of her team and love working with her, documenting her journey.

It's great to work with someone who understands, respects, likes and wants your artistic style. One of the best things about working with Nisa is how strong our connection is, as evidenced by all the times one of us mentions an idea that leads to the other saying, "That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!" (Often paired with some sort of pointing back and forth between us to indicate how we are on the same page yet again.)

In February, I joined Nisa on one of her business trips to San Diego. We packed a lot into two days—a half-day seminar with Liz Goodgold of Red Fire Branding on speaking as a business, some exploring of San Diego and Balboa Park, a team dinner, late night desserts, a coaching session with Liz, and so on and so forth.

See for yourself...

Well, that's all (for now), folks! But I will be shooting with Nisa again in less than two weeks, so look for more Kitchenability videos soon.
