When I first moved to the DC area, I loved going down to the Tidal Basin to see the (in)famous cherry blossoms. It's such a beautiful way to welcome spring after months of winter. However, as the years passed it seems the crowds just kept getting larger until I no longer really enjoyed being there anymore.
I wasn't planning on heading down this year until I got an inquiry for an engagement session with the special request of Saturday, March 26 at the Tidal Basin. I suggested early in the morning, close to sunrise in order to have less crowds. Thankfully, the couple was on the same page and also super awesome! (Hoping to post some of those pics soon, so stay tuned...)
Now, I am far from a morning person and very rarely see a sunrise. Usually if I do, it's because I have an early flight. But after seeing the beautiful light and lighter crowds, I found myself wanting to spend another sunrise at the Tidal Basin with the cherry blossoms. So this past Thursday morning, I packed up some gear and headed back out early in the morning while it was still dark.
This might be my new spring tradition. Also, I want to try to catch more sunrises in general.
