Wednesday, August 25 marked CitizenGulf's National Day of Action, with events in over 15 cities. Last week my friend, @CarolineDinDc, essentially forwarded a tweet calling for a photographer for the DC event. Honestly, that was the first time I'd heard of CitizenGulf, so I checked it out and very quickly decided that I was game to attend and photograph the event. I was happy to hear that I'd be working with another photographer who is awesome, @Nakeva.
Realizing I'd need a better flash than my on camera one and true to my research-and-then-impulsively-buy nature, I decided on the 580EX II and ordered it from B&H on Saturday night. I got it Tuesday and tested it out a little Wednesday before the event to be sure I could use it as a bounce flash. Little did I know that the fantastic Busboys and Poets location would have a dark brown ceiling, but also some decent natural light. While I love myself some natural light, I am excited to have a great flash in my camera bag now. I welcome any tips or suggestions about using my new flash. :)
The event was a great success, complete with a date auction that raised $400. I had a great time taking pictures, meeting new people and gathering for a good cause.
