First off, let me just say that I like to make all kinds of words into verbs. I call it verbifying, and I'm pretty sure I am not alone in that. I also don't think I am alone in my perfectionist tendencies, especially when working on a project or editing a photograph. It seems to go hand-in-hand with the creative nature. I can work for hours at a time editing photos and obsessing over getting the color, contrast, framing, etc. perfect. (Often not succeeding, but hey, that doesn't stop me!)
Well I just realized that my desktop image on my Macbook at home hasn't been changed for a while. I usually like to keep it pretty updated, using a picture from a recent trip or photo shoot. Well, I started looking through my pictures for potential images. I'm really picky about desktop images, and I also have to try it out and upload the image to really see if it works with my set up. The image has to meet certain criteria:
- Fairly simple content, especially along the edges. I like to be able to see my icons and text.
- Fit the screen without compromising the image. Some images have a black border around them, so even if they are horizontal, I can still use them without it driving me crazy...at least until I realize the blacks are different.
- Visually appealing. I seem to have a think for doors and windows in particular. I just think it makes for an interesting interplay with the computer screen. Gives it another dimension in a way.
Here are some images I have used or may use in the future if they slipped by me previously. Most are on flickr, but there are two on JPG: http://jpgmag.com/photos/848581 and http://jpgmag.com/photos/1295503. Hope you like them!
