Newseum: A New Museum to Me

Gina Todorovich

I love free.

I stand in lines in the cold for hours sometimes for free things ranging from attending a taping of Demetri Martin's Important Things to a free salad from Chop't. That last one happened just today.

Washington, DC spoils me in the realm of free. Lots of free food, movies and more. And the museums. All those Smithsonian museums. It's made it quite difficult for me to even entertain the idea of paying to go to one. Not just it costs how much?! I cut that off at "It costs?!"

As a result of my obsession with free, I hadn't gone to the Newseum in the six plus years I have lived here. A Groupon for half off admission helped change that. It's progress for me.

I am so glad that I finally made it to the Newseum. It was an incredible museum experience. I loved the set up, architechture, great customer service, awesome exhibits and abundance of information. I can see how people call it one of their favorite museums. From the Berlin Wall to part of the antenna from the top of the World Trade Center, the museum contains powerful pieces of poignant history. If only they had been filming in the studio yesterday, the experience would have been complete. Guess I'll just have to go back. ;-)
