If you know me at all or have read previous posts, then you already know about my affinity for autumn. I love fall. Growing up in Hawai'i, I never knew what it was like to have seasons. Once I moved to the mainland (an Islander thing to say, I now realize), I just fell in love with the seasons. Fall and spring being my favorites.
This past weekend my friends and I had an apple picking and then movie watching date. I turned out to be the worst girls' day date as I spent hours in the kitchen and dining room baking with my freshly picked apples. (Sorry, girls!) After our little trip to Homestead Farm, we headed home, stopping by the grocery store for some baking goods and the Cheesecake Factory for, well, cheesecake. [Insert judgement here.]
Now, I love a good cobbler and was thinking of making one, but then I'd never made an apple pie before. Loving a new baking challenge, I decided to go for it (lattice crust and all). I also became enamored with the idea of Smitten Kitchen's apple and cheddar scones. So I had to make those, too. I highly recommend the scones. Deb (of Smitten Kitchen) does no wrong in my eyes; or if she does, she notes it in her awesome blog that also has incredible food pictures. Added a new favorite to my baking repertoire this weekend.
